Sylvia Imanirakiza
I am a third year MS/PhD student in Computer Science at UMass Amherst. I am fortunately advised by Prof. Jay Taneja as part of the STIMA Lab (Systems Towards Infrastructure Measurement and Analytics) and the e-GUIDE Initiative (Electricity Growth and Use in Developing Economies). My research areas are machine learning for social good and public infrastructure analytics + urban data science. Iām currently working on computational imaging for electric power quality measurement.
Prior to my PhD, I received my BSc in Electrical Engineering at Makerere University, Uganda where I worked as an undergraduate researcher at Marconi Machine Laboratory, advised by Dr. Cosmas Mwikirize and Dr. Andrew Katumba.
During my PhD, I have interned at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2025)
